Five Minute Friday
“Friend”
Ready, begin…
Some say that friendships can last for a season, and sometimes for years. But what happens if you think that a “best friend forever” is no more? A blip happens and no matter how much repentance or space is given, nothing seems to repair the breach. Do you move on? How ? Interaction weekly at least, is required. Leaves you scarred and always wary. Jesus calls us ‘friends’, sometimes though, especially as women we need more than Jesus. Though popular social media memes would tell us otherwise. Hard to trust someone else to take that place. Hard to be transparent enough to try again. The longing doesn’t go away. It’s easy to be that for someone else, but to find that person for you…not so much.
Stop.
It’s hard to lose those friends we thought would be forever. Oh and so fun to see you have a blog now. I’m in the 35 spot this week.
What a clear and thoughtful essay, Carol. Really impressive writing.
And it can be hard to be transparent enough to try again, you’re so right.
Thank you Carol for being willing to share this deep wound with us. I hear you about needing someone to connect with here on earth as well. Love you Sister
