I’m a big fan of historical fiction but I especially enjoy reading it when the main character is based off a real person. Roseanna White’s Spy Keeper is a novel of WW2 France and the Resistance’s network I’m amazed at all the things Zelle (our heroine ) was able to do and keep track of.
She brings to life the heroism of that era. What they did in their fight for freedom and to help the Allies. Watching the relationship of Zellie and Marcel (a concert pianist recently set free from a POW camp join forces. Loved watching their relationship bloom even though it could put everything in jeopardy if they got too close.
The sacrifices that Zelle in particular had to make in order to do what she did. Remarkable.
Roseanna includes wonderful back matter about the real Spy Keeper and the work of the Resistance. Definitely a 5 star read
